Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS)

Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a life-threatening illness, most frequently caused by a severe reaction to medication. SJS causes tremendous suffering, starting with flu-like symptoms, persistent fever, and rash, and progressing to more severe blistering, "sloughing" of skin, and blistering of eyes, ears, nose, and genitals.

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has identified certain prescription drugs that are linked to SJS. In many cases, the drug manufacturer is aware of the increase risk of SJS caused by the medication, yet continues to market their product.
